The Underwood Model 5 is very similar to the original Model 1, first made in 1897. The Underwood typewriter was the first widely successful modern typewriter. It pulled together the three main design elements that set the standard for the 20th century; a four-row straight keyboard, a single shift key and importantly, front striking type bars giving visible typing. Another less obvious feature, that also played a key role in the Underwood’s success, was the smooth and responsive action of its keys. Condition: Used/good, mechanism fully working (not tested with ink), has some overall faultsnto the black glazed due to age wear and need deep cleaning, but overall good. Outra característica menos óbvia, que também desempenhou um papel fundamental no sucesso do Underwood, foi a ação suave e responsiva das suas teclas. Estado: Usado/bom, mecanismo totalmente funcional (não testado com tinta), apresenta algumas falhas gerais no pintura preta devido ao desgaste pelo tempo e precisa de limpeza profunda, mas no geral bom.
